Last night marked a poignant moment in Fort Lauderdale's history as Commissioner John C. Herbst issued a Proclamation declaring May 12 - May 18, 2024, as National Police Week in the city. This special week is a time for reflection and remembrance, honoring those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Commissioner Herbst, in a touching ceremony, paid tribute to the 13 Fort Lauderdale Police Department officers who have fallen while protecting the community. The emotional tribute served not only as a reminder of the risks these brave individuals take but also as a celebration of their courage and dedication.
