Officer Jennifer B. Sepot

End of Watch: August 14, 2021

Officer Jennifer Sepot died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.
Officer Sepot served with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department for four years.  She is survived by her husband, who is also a police officer, and her daughter.

Officer Jose A. Diaz

End of Watch: October 8, 2005

Officer Jose Diaz was killed while assisting other officers perform a felony traffic stop of a suspected police impersonator. He served with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department for 21⁄2 years and had previously served with the New York City Police Department for 14 years. He was survived by his wife, son, and daughter.

Officer Bryant H. Peney

End of Watch: January 6, 1996

Officer Bryant Peney was shot on the night of January 5, 1996, during a foot chase with a subject. Officer Peney tried to stop the subject while he was hiding in a bush along a highway. While the suspect was running, he turned and fired at Officer Peney. He died in surgery at 0354 hours on January 6, 1996.
Officer Peney served with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department for 6 years. He was survived by his parents and twin brother, who also served as a Fort Lauderdale Police Officer.

Officer Frank Mastrangelo and Detective Norman Eddy were killed in an airplane accident while returning to Fort Lauderdale in the agency’s plane. Officer Mastrangelo served with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department for 10 years and was survived by his wife.
